That would be kind of interesting, but there are some classes that finding questions to ask will be pretty hard to do. like History of Magic, Transfiguration, Arithmancy...

You could just TALK/DISCUSS the class you are teaching. Like for transfiguration: "what would you like to be if you were an animagus?
History of Magic: talk about Professor binns. What you would do in his boring class, etc.
Arithmancy: ...what IS arithmancy???

I think the idea for this forum is really refreshing!! I mean, it's something new and very creative...and fun...I like the idea that it's not just posting all the time, you get to play and participate in many things....

now that I teach Occlumency too, can I just spend an hour trying to get into people's minds and if they resist me, give them House Points? J/K

The idea about holding classes in chatrooms etc. could work out nicely, but we should bear in mind that the purpose of the forum is to have fun, so we don't want newcomers to the forum suffering from chronic OWL anxiety. (A trivia question for you all: what student at Hogwarts always seems to suffer the worst anxiety prior to end of year exams??) But it could be fun, especially if you take a fairly relaxed approach to it. For instance I'm doing DADA, so I can hardly test to see if people are able to conjure up a convincing Patronus charm! Just following on from that, here's an idea. As has been said, some subjects are hard to test without a practical test of some sort. Supposing for instance that the teacher is teaching Transfiguration in the chatroom. They take into account the students year level (first year, second year etc.), how many magic points they have, and any other relevant variables. Then they say to the student, "OK you've got a 50% chance to succeed at turning the match into a needle". The teacher then randomly determines if they succeed or not. This is how most classic roleplaying games work after all... Also, if they succeed multiple times, the student may then gain experience at the discretion of the teacher, who might then award them house points and rule that they are more likely to succeed at working that magic again in future. What do people think of that?
Robbie.

I think that's a really good idea. I'm just afraid that some people might turn a little Snape-like and fail students for the fun of it! J/K, I know they wouldn't do such a thing. but I think I would kind of feel bad to be like "I'm sorry, you failed to do it".

I agree that is a weak point with the plan, Professor, yes. But if teachers were so mean to their students they might find none of them turn up to their classes! On the other hand, were we proposing to fine their house points if they're absent from classes? But bear in mind, as you say, teachers probably wouldnt do that. And also, failing once doesnt mean they cant try again in a future session...

Just a little suggestion:
I think the Head of Houses should pick their house prefects...
I mean, the'll be the ones who know whos most active in their house common rooms and through out the entire forums...

Arithmancy is Divination by using numbers. Like adding the numbers in your name together to find out what kind of person you are, or adding together the numbers of your birthdate to find out how long you'll live. stuff like that.
