I think the deal's with this:
Lily was a muggle with magical abilities, but still a muggle, and James was then a pure-blood wizard, I suppose, so, that would make Harry a half-blood wizard, get it now? And just to ask, what do you guys think of the whole Gryffindors hare thing?

In my opinion, that is completly true, although Lily did have magical powers, she was still a muggle born. She wasn't a witch until later on in her life. Therefore, because James was a pure-blood, Harry is half.

but it didn't matter to Riddle, as far as he was concerned, Lily was a "mud-blood", which wasn't good enough to be a pure witch

[glow=red,2,300]Yeh, but I don't think it was only Riddle that called him a half blood, is it? I thought someone else called him it in Order of the Pheonix....dunno, maybe I am just confused..[/glow]

I can't recall if Harry was called it in the Order of the Pheonix or not.....
Maybe because Harry's mom was muggle born, he is considered half and half, but i would think he was like 3/4 at the very least

[glow=red,2,300]Thats what I was thinking earlier...I think if you did a family tree you would be able to find out, but I am not really sure if I can be bothered to do that right now [/glow]

I know what you mean about not having much time to do it. I just got back from a camp and another one is in a week. But even if I had the time, I still think it would be pretty hard because you don't know anything about Harry's parents past besides that Lily was a muggle born and James was a pure blood. JKR didn't tell us anything besides this, that I know of...

That's all nice, but I still think that Harry is a half-blood, Lily was tehnicaly a muggle , only with powers, but SHE WAS A MUGGLE BORN! And, James? I then suppose he was a pure.blood wizard, but I just got a thought in!
Remember the 1st book (I'm rereading it for the milionth time now), Petunia said something like: "My mum and dad were so proud they have a witch in the family!"
But why didn't she say "OUR mom and dad", or "OUR parents", I have no idea on this one, but it might halp you to continue the discussion

i sort of see what you mean, but she might have said that just because she did not count Lily as part of the family. She never liked her, at least not after she became a witch, so all it might mean was she did not count her as part of the family???

Do you mean 'heir'? if you do then I thought Harry might be the heir of gryffindor, and that is why Voldemot wanted to kill him, but am not too sure now...he wanted to kill Harry because of the prophecy...but maybe that was why he chose Harry instead of Neville? because he was the heir? thats why Lily didn't have to die, because she wasn't the heir, so he didn't have to worry about it...maybe he killed James to make sure that he couldn't have another son, which he would then have to kill or something..I dunno.. If you mean Gryffindors hare then you are talking about 'The Rabbit of Gryffindor', I guess?
