This is the first of many theories/questions/topics I will be posting over the next few days. Most of these topics, we will only be able to "guess" on seeing as it's very unlikely we will be able to give a 100% correct answer since we don't have enough information from JKR yet.
Anyways, what do you all think: Can ghosts see through Invisibility Cloaks?
Harry hasn't ever run into one of the Hogwarts ghosts while using his Invisibility Cloak has he? I don't think so... which makes it even harder to answer this question. I'm not sure about ghosts, but I know Dumbledore and Mrs. Norris can see through it.

No, I don't think they can. Remember in CoS, when the attacks mount with Hermione and Penelope Clearwater being Petrified, students have to be in their common room by a certain time. So Harry and Ron visit Hagrid by using the Cloak. While getting there, Harry notices there was loads of activity with Prefects and ghosts patrolling the corridors to see whether anything unusual was taking place. Students are not allowed to be out right then. None noticed them. So they can't see through them.

Harry wonders if Mrs Norris can see through it, but we've never had a direct answer on that. If she can she doesn't go to get Filch, does she? Anyway. Harry has had a direct encounter with Nearly Headless Nick in the Cloak, and Nick didn't see him. I think it is in Philosphers Stone, where they are going to find the Mirror of Erised again. It is something like 'They met nobody except Nearly Headless Nick floating past' or something, and it says he didn't notice. Or I think he might have looked at a noise, but not seen anything.

Then, it's settled. Ghosts can't see through the cloak. Although, they should be able to.

Not so sure about that they may not have been close enough or just missed being around at the right time.

I think the only thing that can see through the Cloak is Moody's Magical Eye...correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey yeah, in CoS, he looked towards Ron and Harry when they were in Hagrid's Hut!

Yeah i agree!
He's great i really like dumbledore!
But it makes sense for ghosts to see through invisibility cloaks even though we have established they cant, because they are partially see through themselves so it kind of makes sense for them to be able to see through them!!

Hmm...you have a point, it is pretrty weird. You know, I've seen rumours on the Net about how Dumbledore will die in the sixth book...scary..

If he dies, then I'm gonna lose it.
Ghosts can go through the cloak, so maybe they can only see through it then. Just like if they were using it.

I will be VERY VERY angry with J.K. Rowling if she kills off both Dumbledore and Harry.... granted she might not kill him off like Sirius but he might die of old age I mean what is he around 200?
