I read Watership Down in 8th grade. I though it was very very good, though several people don't agree. But if you can get past the fact that it's about... rabbits... you can see what a great story it is.
Has anyone else here read Watership Down? If you'd like, I'll post some more information on the book.

Yeah my English teacher mentioned Watership Down as being a good book, but she's usually wrong about things like that. But if you think it's good, it probably is... do explain it Daniel.

Ok, here's the short summary from the back of the book: One of the most beloved novels of our time, Richard Adam's WATERSHIP DOWN takes us to a world we have never truely see: to the remarkable life that teems in the fields, forests and riverbanks far and beyond our cities and towns. It is a powerful sago of courage, leadership and survival; an epic tale of a hardy band of adventures forced to flee the destrution of their fragile community... and their trials and triumphs in the face of extraordinary adversity as they pursue a glorious dream called "home".Ok, yes the story is about rabbits and I know it sounds really gay but trust me, I think just about anyone that reads it will like it. You just have to forget about the characters being rabbits (which isn't hard). The rabbits talk amongst each other (they can talk to other animals as well but not with humans) and at the begining of the book it begins with a bunch of humans driving up to their "warren" where they live underground, and shoving hoses down the holes and gasing them to death. The rabbits that survive start out on a very tough journey in search of the perfect place to start a new warren. Like I said, the book may sound silly, but if any of you ever have some free time you should try it. I read it the first time in 8th grade, and parts of it were a little hard to understand but it's a fairly easy read. Even J.K. Rowling has read it and said it is an "absolutley fabulous book" so that should be enough for everyone . Oh, and I've never see any of the Watership Down movies but from what I've heard, they were pretty bad compared to the book.
