Well, if you're a Lord of the Rings fan ( a fan of the books, movies or both), I recommend the Lord of the Rings Visual Companion by Jude Fisher, which I bought today.

If not, stear clear of SoUE The Golden Compass (just don't read the rest of the series) if you enjoy fantasy Books by Luanne Rice (Dream Country's the best) if you enjoy romance/illnessish books and are tired of that stupid, repetetive Laurlene McDaniels John Grisham's amazing (just don't read Painted House by him -- it's awful) if you like law, like I do. Shopaholic novels by Sophie Consella if you enjoy humour in your reads Dick Francis if you're into mysteries Just few from each genre there (except Sci-Fi ... I don't like any sci-fi)

Some books I would recommend: Lamb by Christopher Moore, actually all of his books are laugh out loud funny, Practical Demonkeeping, Coyote Blue, Blood Sucking Fiends, Island of the Sequined Love Nun, The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove and Fluke. Also really enjoy Robert A. Heinlein, he's Sci-Fi, but the books are also humorous-Time Enough for Love, I Shall Fear no Evil, Job: A Comedy of Justice and To Sail Beyond the Sunset are some of my favorites from him. Also related to Harry Potter-I just finished Looking for God in Harry Potter by John Granger, I highly recommend it, if nothing else just to annoy Churchy types who think HP is bad for kids. I showed it my sister (I've been sneaking HP to her kids for a year now, they come for sleepovers and I read HP aloud) and finally got her to read HP. Hurrah a personal victory for me. Hope you enjoy some of these. Jessica
