i found a list somewhere, and totalled it up - almost fifty people died who were mentioned in the harry potter books. there are a number of deaths having nothing to do with, or occurring before the war - but the majority can be placed on voldemort's shoulders.
something i had forgotten is that Mrs. Tonks lost both her husband, and her daughter. This is terribly tragic, and I am happy only in the fact that she was able to raise her grandson. According to the dates (which always confused me...) He would have been 11 this year, and gone to hogwarts. I find it tragically unfair that no one in the books is the same age as i am. i mean really. they're first year would have had to be in 2004, and we don't know of any such character. so sad.
I wasn't too terribly fond of his relationship with Victoire. But am awfully fond of the idea of Rose Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy.
I was beyond glad to see that Malfoy married a woman other than Pansy. It is often found in fanfiction that Malfoy and a Greengrass girl would get married, due to an arranged marriage by their parents. It seems as if this wasn't the case, and I am extremely happy by their pairing. I hate that I always bring myself back Draco - but perhaps my favorite thing J.K. Rowling has said outside the books is in her comparison between Regulus and Draco. I find the two characters intriguing, especially Regulus - seeing as there is so little material avaliable about him.
I strayed from my own point, but i wished to discuss the beloved and not so known characters that gave their lives to the war and a much justified cause.
