[glow=blue,2,300] Here's what I think: Voldemort's dad was a Muggle and his mum was a witch....basically muggle+witch = half-blood Harry's mum although Muggle-born (thats what we're assuming) was a witch, so was his dad (although we know nothing bout James' family)....here witch+wizard = pure-blood!!! Voldemort's got his definitions mixed up!!! [/glow]

there's talk in the other thread about Voldemort being Harry's grandfather... so maybe the reason we don't know anything about James' family is that he's Voldemort's son?

Ooer, strange theory...maybe, maybe...not too sure about that though....ah well..I said before I think harry was called a Half-Blood by someone other then Tom Riddle, so I think he is supposed to be a half blood by some logic...just can't figure it out

I said before that I think they take Harry's whole lineage into account... Lily's side is muggle and James' side is pureblood, so Harry has muggle and wizard blood, making him a half-blood.
and Dumbledore said Harry was a half-blood (end of book 5 to Harry about Voldemort choosing Harry instead of Neville... "And notice this, Harry. He chose, not the pureblood (which, according to his creed, is the only kind of wizard worth being or knowing), but the half-blood, like himself.")

you're welcome you're welcome you're welcome lol
I wouldn't have remembered that if I hadn't just finished reading it again last night. It was fresh in my head. (Well, I cheated and used the book for the exact wording, but I still knew it was there!)

yep, you were right... and actually, now that I think about it, I think someone else called him a half-blood too, I just can't remember who. Not that it matters. I mean if Dumbledore said it, what more proof do you need, right?

i think it is conmfusing because there should be a differnt name for someone who has a witch/wizard and a muggle parents meaning mugvgle who doesnt have any powers at all, compared to a witch/wizard with wizard parents with a with or wizard with muggle parents

I think I speak for everyone when I say..... huh??
lol, sorry. I got a little lost in that post. just too much going on there.
you're talking about "half-bloods" right? how a witch/wizard born to 1 wizarding parent and 1 muggle parent should not be the same thing as a witch/wizard born to 2 wizarding parents (one full-blood, one muggle-born). is that right?

I think that is what the post meant...I finished reading OotP again last night, and Bellatrix calls Harry a half-blood a lot when they meet...Harry also kinda calls himself it as well, because he says 'Yeah, you know what? Voldemort's a half-blood too', meaning as well as Harry...so, he must understand it....but yeh, there should be a word for someone born with pureblood father and muggleborn mother or visa versa. Not half-blood, because the lineage of the blood is different to a half-blood....

i mean there should be a differnce between half blood when a witch/wizard marrys a muggle and a pureblood witch/wizard having babies with a mudblood witch/wizard
