I don't think he is there because of 'god', because the books aren't religious one way or another. And most people think of christmas here, saying it's christian so they must be christian, etc, but most schools celebrate it regardless of religion. He is described as 'a little man with wicked dark eyes and a wide mouth'. I think he was there for some reason, I mean, some things have been changed for the HP world. Like a basilisk, in mythology it is, what, a six legged lizard with the ability to turn things into stone with it's glare. Not a snake. She may have changed it. We may never know. I meant how people know, or assume that God just has always been. Peeves could have been around forever, or before known history.

I know you meant that WioK, I was just saying she may not have that for him, because she may have changed it like with the Basilisk.

I couldn't.
A basilisk is a real lizard, but it only has 4 legs.

So JKR changed the basilisk so it could be the symbol of Slytherin, cos I couldn't see a lizard as the symbol for Slytherin.

yeah so that it fitted in with the Boa-Constricter in the first book probably too, and she had already said the slytherin crest had a snake on it so she probably did it so it fitted in with what she had already said in the first book

Yea, she had to change it, cuz if it was a lizard, it wouldn't be the right animal for slytherin.
