We've all seen the foreshadowing J.K. uses in the HP books, and we're looking for more of it all the time, right? I mean: what is this section of the forum for if not that? Well, I was recently re-watching the 4th movie and re-reading the 5th book and I noticed that something was being stressed. Purposly. However, I can't figure out the purpose.
Dumbledore speeks of the importance of friendship and international magical cooperation strongly after Voldermort's return. In book 5, the sorting hat adds a warning in his song, something unfamiliar to all. Nick begins to explain that he does it whenever he feels... but is cut off. Then, Hermione brings up the point twice more. First, here, she quotes Dumbledore's speech from the year before word for word (here Ron picks on her for knowing those details) and then later encourages it again.
It seems like a pretty good hint to me, but what does it refer to? I think it might have something to do with the ever interesting Malfoy, but that's just me. Check it out and tell me what you think it means.

Something to do with the one kind of magic that Voldie can't do anything about, perhaps? Love protected Harry and nearly killed Voldemort, and only Dumbledore really understood this. Dumbledore is very mysterious as is Nick and I believe that Nick, in his many years at Hogwarts, is almost as knowlegeable. This means that they understand the importance of this weapon more than many others, and know that in order to win the war they must use it.
Oh, and what need was there for the "yo ur gay" comment?

thanks ravie. I didn't think it was ambiguous either, I just meant how do you think it will play out and does it foreshadow other friendships, like possibly Malfoy, or a tragic mistake our side will make? I think this theme was stressed for a reason and it will be possibly, the theme of the book. Cooperation, loyalty, friendship, trust, and forgiveness. kinda like life.

Well I agree...the flaw that Dumbledore digs into Harry's brain (and the rest of us) is that Voldypants is selfish, only out for himself, and would just as soon kill his enemies as those who follow him.
Harry on the other hand has numerous friends and loved ones who have died or are willing to die for him. So which do you think is going to follow their leader to the death, the ones who follow for selfish reason, or the ones whose loyalty is developed from something deeper.
I mean its all gonna come down to the final one on one battle, but still...Loyalty is a very important to friendship and love so i have a feeling once the Death Eaters see the heart and the numbers behind Harry, Voldypants won't be feeling like such a hot shot anymore!

ohh...very thoughtful. Yes, perhaps they will turn on Vold and bring about is downfall. Is that how Harry will defeat him with love? the loyalty of others?

i am a firm believer in malfoy. i love the idiot, and believe he will turn to the good side before the end. but i don't think that's what they mean. in some ways, but in other ways bo and ravie i agree with you.
But away your differences, and just stick together as one. As a school, as a community. obviously the 'evil' ones aren't going to. but what about that person you just can't stand because you think they stole your boyfriend. (dang it, now that song will be stuck in my head. AHHHHH) They were trying to hint that, we can't win this by ourselves as individuals. we need to stick the petty stupid fights and rivalries behind us, and work together.
yeah... that was sorta a bad way to explain it.. but that's what i think.

Pffft...so i can't stand Malfoy...sorry! He's a goob! He may stand with them at the end, but it'll only be because he is looking out for himself...
For me, a good guy has to have been a good guy along...i hate it when some people can just jump on the band wagon and then get the same amount of praise as others who have been there all along and through think and thin
I think if Malfoy wants to switch sides he should die in battle, he should go out like a man and not like the little child who was following his daddy and Voldypants. He should choose the good side for himself and then while fighting the VERY people he helped into power he should die. It would be the only time he ever sacrficed something, not because he had to, but because he chose to and it was the RIGHT thing to do...THATS a real "good guy"
