I'm 14, but when the fifth came out I was 13.. I understand pretty much everything.. I read it in two days. I had a soccer match in between, so then I lost some time. i also put the book down when Sirius died and made me some tea.. I was crying and my mom asked me what was wrong and I said that Sirius was dead and she said: "And?". That somehow upset me more

Hmm I thought the subject of this thread was "Illustrators" lol
Anyways, which cover art designs do you all like best for the HP books? I REALLY like the US book covers, they're JKR's favorite too. The UK versions are ok though.

I like the american versions too.. They are the same as we have in norway. But I think the fifth is better in UK than in the US

My copy of Harrius Potter Et Philosophi Lapis has the same cover-art as the British children's edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. So does the Welsh language version.
I don't own any foreign language editions other than the Latin one.
I prefer the British children's covers for the first four books, but I prefered the American cover for Order of the Phoenix. It represented the story better. I also prefer the insides of the American editions, since they have small pics at the beginning of each chapter and the British ones don't.
I really don't like the British adult covers. The idea of adults being ashamed to admit they read Harry Potter and wanting "secret" covers is stupid anyway. Plus the cover of Order of the Phoenix looks like a Nazi emblem or something.

Yeah it actually does Adam..
It resembles a Nazi sign? Not really in my version.. which copy are you talking about Essy? The one I have has a picture of Fawkes on the cover, rising out of the fire.. and the fountain with the witch, wizard, centaur and house elf (which was in the MoM) on the back...

The adult UK cover has a stylised Phoenix on the cover which looks like the Nazi eagle emblem. Spot the difference: And Adam, that was a pretty good swastika, but I meant a different emblem. Sorry!

lol, woops. but i dont get why adults want a differnt "version" of the book, i mean, the content is like the same. what do they have to be ashamed about if caught reading HP? it means they are still young at heart

I completely agree. Having different covers for grown-ups is stupid.
