I know I won't be popular for vociing this opinion but I can't help feeling at times that JK Rowling sort of wastes what are brilliant ideas with poor writing. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for her but sometimes I find myself cringing at the way she puts things and the way she makes characters behave. Dunno what anyone else thinks ... I'll probaby be shot down in flames but oh welll hehe

I won't hurt you, but honestly I think everything she does is completely intentional... she wants us to question her on things so we'll never quite be able to figure out what's going to happen next.

i think the way she rights is really good. she makes us hate her villians[sp?] and like devina says, v were meant 2 cringe at harry's behaviour in OotP. it just proves her skill.

Lol. Yeah, I agree with ya guys. JKR does that on purpose so we're surprised on what's gonna happen next... And with Harry's behavior, I think she's just making it based on realistic teenage behavior.

As I say I love the books, otherwise I wouldnt be here. JK Rowling has wonderful ideas, and usually does well with them. But I think the last book was definitely of a lower standard. Firstly it was far too long, and full of what I felt were unnecessary scenes and characters. If you contrast that with Prisoner of Azkaban, which had a really tightly focused plot and direction, I think book 5 doesnt really compare very well. But hey, I love to play devils advocate hehe

But hey, I love to play devils advocate hehe Hey... you're actually not very much the devil's advocate... considering there has to be one of the books everyone doesn't like so much compared to the rest. For my part, I try avoid reading the 2nd book if I can. And avoid watching the 2nd movie (the fact that I own the 2nd movie on DVD has no bearing on the other fact that I simply hate that movie). You don't like the 5th so much. And as for the length...ah well, I always did love a long book that didn't bore me. Now if the length and the plot was boring...let me tell ya, I wouldn't be here! Ciao!

Her writing is so good. Its like she became the most known author after these great books.

Honestly, I think the 5th book wasn't really the greatest... but I think it gave some information that we'll need to know for book 6. it kinda laid the groundwork.
Maybe we'll appreciate book 5 more after we read HBP and see why it was all necessary.

I personally love her writing style... though I agree with you about how she makes characters behave. I mean, in the fifth book Harry is always so angry, and always takes his temper out on Hermione and Ron, which I hate. Though I think this is completely intentional, and JKR knew what she was doing... it makes the whole thing more realistic- of course he would be effected by what he witnessed in the graveyard in book four! But other than Harry's bad mood swings, I thought book 5 was incredible!

Lol. I just like JKR's writing style. And yeah, what Prof. D. said might even be right. And Harry's behavior contained TEEN ANGST! Haha. But he could burrst it out on a closet or something... Maybe he and Sirius' Mother's Portrait might have a showdown... LOL.

ok. looks like i should have found this before now. I like her writeing style. I also don't like the 2nt book as much. i have only read it 7 times compared to the 16 times i have read SS, POA, GOF. she is a good author. and i agree with everyone. that is what her style does, makes us question and want more info.

ok, I know Harry shouldn't have taken his anger out on his best friends... but honestly, how would you feel if you'd spent your entire life living with people who "hated" you, never knowing the truth about your parents' death, learning that they died to protect you, finding out the person who killed them is now after you, watching him kill someone else "because of you", and then nobody believing you that he's back?! lol
I think I'd be a little angsty too!!

Lol. So obviously it's just natural. Harry had no choice but to do that. I mean Harry could've bursted any day and Ron and Hermione just happened to be there... Lol. Wrong timing...
