How did Fred and George know that outcome of the Quidditch World Cup in book 4 ahead of time?
Surely it wasn't just good guessing.
What do you all think? I've heard some theories saying they used time travel or something, but that just doesn't seem right to me...

I was pondering this. I think they are basically just lucky. They never get in serious trouble, and always seem to know whats going on. However, it may be something more, maybe they are half prophets or something. Maybe it is a twin thing. Lol, maybe Trewlawney has a twin somewhere!! Haha, imagine that..

Well I think it must be something more than just luck. I mean no one would have ever thought the match would turn out like that. I think they're probably very powerful wizards... maybe they have a little seer blood in them or something, I don't know.
Can anyone think of any other occasion in which Fred and George predicted something and they turned out to be right?

I think it's more like "Real-life". F and G were "in the know". That means that the match was fixed. It happens all the time in sports. The losing team was paid to lose, and Krum was paid to do that move to win.
Fred, and George know people who aren't exactally law abiding. They'd have a connection that would help them place a sure bet!

That's a good thought, WioK. What Eidan says brings up some interesting questions... How can betting take place in the wizarding world if there are those talented in Divination who already know the outcome of the game? I've never really thought about it before, but this could pose some serious problems.

No one knew Winky cast the Dark Mark either. There's always a way around thing that are "shifty".

So what are you trying to say? Are you saying that people make themselves believe whatever there is the most solid evidence for just because it's easiest? But how does that relate to the Fred and George situation that we're talking about here?
